Alex Higgins is one of the most charismatic snooker players the world has ever seem. His flair on the table was something to be seen. He gained his nickname 'Hurricane Higgins' due to the way he blasted around the Snooker table. He has a string of accomplishments to his name including World Professional Snooker Champion in 1972 and 1982, Benson & Hedges Masters Champion in 1978 and 1981 and British Gold Cup Champion in 1980. These are just a few of his amazing titles as there would be too many to mention. Other great players of that era were John Spencer, Ray Reardon, Steve Davis and Jimmy White, some may say this was the 'hay day' of snooker.
Today’s players are no less worthy of a mention especially the top seeded Ronnie 'Rocket' O'Sullivan, so named for his rapid playing pace, not dissimilar to the great Alex Higgins. To date he has achieved the World Championship title no less than three times and UK Championship a staggering four times not to mention numerous other titles. O'Sullivan plays alongside other fantastic snooker players like Stephen Maguire, Shaun Murphy, Mark Selby, John Higgin and Stephen Hendry at well known establishments such as the Crucible hoping for a pop at The Masters title, Welsh and British Open titles and the Snooker Grand Prix.
