Darts

Darts have come along way since their early beginnings when dart boards resembled miniature versions of the archery target. Until the early 20th century the only darts matches played were those in peoples houses or matches between pubs who were located close together. After the first world war brewery leagues were established and in 1924 the National Darts Association was born.

Since those early days, Darts have grown into an international sport with matches being televised. Remember the heady days of Eric 'Crafty Cockney' Bristow, John 'Old Stoneface' Lowe and Jocky Wilson putting on a brilliant show while drinking pints on the side lines. These days, darts has lost that beer swilling edge and is trying to appeal as a sport for the whole of the family.

Matches are played out in luxury establishments and titles up for grabs include Lakeside World Professional Championship , Topic International Darts League , Bullit World Darts Trophy and Winmau World Masters. Today’s top players include Phil Taylor, James Wade, Colin Lloyde and Raymond van Barneveld.

We would be very interested in knowing if you have ever been to see any of the above taking place, who did you back and why this match was so enthralling.
